One year ago today ...

It's had to imagine that one year ago today I was was standing in
Olympic Park, near the Biodome, listening to Tavares (over the radio
from inside the stadium), announce the movement of my favorite franchise.

Later that night, I went into the stadium and ended up crying for what
was probably only the second time in my adult life (the first was the
birth of my child). That said, I was proud to be at the Stade with
31,000 others to give the Expos a proper sendoff.

Baseball, and Montréal, just haven't been the same for me since. As it
says on the license plate, "Je Me Souviens."

I can only imagine what it's like as I've always followed the Expos from
far away. For me, this year has had the same incredible highs and lows as
always. They are the same team, it's just their jerseys don't happen to
match the ones I wear. But, it isn't the same, except that as always, it was
designed to break your heart.........

The Great Green Fields of the Mind.

It breaks your heart.
It is designed to break your heart....

The game begins in the spring...and it blossoms in the summer,
filling the afternoons and evenings,
and then as soon as the chill rains come,
it stops
and leaves you to face the fall alone.

You should have left your golf balls at home.

Although I doubt this will be read by the poster, every sports team has a
few fans as such. However they'll always be a vast minority. Ask anyone who
knows/cares, Montreal was a great baseball city!

Hey, you probably don't remember me, but I used to post at the Expos board
on mlb.com, till it eventually got shut down. Anyway, how long were you an
Expos fan? I am only 25, so I can't say as I got as attached as much as
lifelong fans, but I remember back to 94. Regardless, I wanted them to stay
as much as all of us did. Are you focusing on the Athletics now?
