Thought this place would have died by now.......

Hi folks,

Well the baseball season has come and (almost) gone and as long I
didn't say the words "Montreal Expos", I didn't get too sad. However,
I must admit that I miss them terribly.

For those of you who say that watching the Nats is the same as
watching the Expos, I can only surmise that you weren't big 'Spos
fans. Watching the Nats is like watching your ex-husband with another
woman, it's like thinking about a friend or family member that has
died, it's like revisiting Rick Monday's swing, it's like hearing the
'94 season called off, it's like hearing the official announcement
that the Montreal Expos will be relocated to D.C. All bloody painful
memories.

So yes, it's nice to see Frank Robinson enjoying himself and it was
nice to see some of the former Expos having good years (just the same
as it was nice to cheer for Vladdy, Larry Walker and the other ex-'s),
but it ain't no Expos cheerfest.

Roberta

P.S. Did anyone see the dedication to the Expos during the
Canadiens-Boston hockey game the other night? Andre Dawson and Gary
Carter raised an "Expos 1969-2004" banner to the roof of the Molson
Centre amidst cries of "Expos! Expos!". Another painful moment.......

Indeed.

I was just going through some pictures to put up on a sharing site fr
family members and I ran across the pics I took at the last game my
daughters and I ever went to at The Big Owe.

Unemployment prevented me from going in 2003 & 2004 but we (some
combination of family members) had been up there every year from
1986-2002.

Was the last game Vlad every played there and he DID get that 40th HR
despite what the umpire said.

Actually Vlad stayed through the 2003 season (not 2002), and while I
missed the game of his 40th "home run" in 2002, I was there the next
night when the same umpire called him out on a called third strike that
wasn't.

I can create an MPG for those who want copies. I'll make it in
lower-rez and can e-mail it to those who want copies.
